What makes us unique is over 30 years experience in hair removal. Offering both electrolysis and laser we can treat any and all unwanted hair permanently.
Laser Hair Removal
Remove unwanted hair faster and more effectively with the Alexandrite laser and the Nd:YAG laser.
Iga’s Laser & Electrolysis offers the safest, most effective and efficient method of permanent hair removal available today: the Cynosure Apogee Elite™ Laser. Cynosure hair removal lasers are FDA approved and effective for all skin types from fair to dark.
A patch test will be done to determine your suitability for the treatment. We will customize your treatment program in order to achieve the results you are looking for.
Hair can be removed from almost anywhere on the body. The most popular areas for laser hair removal are the face, underarms, bikini region and legs. Men also enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal, with the neck, throat, and back being common treatment areas.
The Elite is a true laser, unlike the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system, and is designed to deliver a specific wavelength of light to achieve maximum effect and minimize side-effects.
Which is better: Laser or Electrolysis?
Laser hair removal and electrolysis are both effective when performed correctly. Laser hair removal works very well on darker hair. Lasers are used wherever possible because they allow removal of the hair in the fastest, most efficient way.
For fine blonde, red or grey hair laser will not be effective and electrolysis is a better option.
Permanent hair reduction can always be achieved at Iga’s Laser & Electrolysis using either laser or electrolysis. In many cases, using a combination produces the best results. A treatment plan will be customized just for you.
Electrolysis vs. Laser: Which is right for you?
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal offers permanent hair reduction. Experts believe 1-5% of hair will not respond to laser treatments. We will permanently remove any of these remaining hairs with electrolysis.
What should I do before my laser treatment?
Avoid sun exposure. You cannot wax, tweeze, thread or have electrolysis for 4 weeks before a treatment. To manage hair between appointments, please shave or trim.
What should I expect after a treatment?
After a treatment the skin may be red and bumpy because it is irritated, and this is absolutely normal. We recommend protecting the treated skin from the sun. Avoid hot tubs and saunas for 24-48 hours. The area should be moisturized with clear aloe gel.
After your initial treatment, you should enjoy a significant reduction of hair. However, it will take 2-4 weeks for the treated hair to push its way to the surface and fall out.
Is laser hair removal painful?
The treatment does have a slight prickly or stinging sensation. Most of our clients are able to tolerate the treatment without difficulty. However, every person’s level of sensitivity is different and treatment areas may vary. Our unique Cynosure laser system can quickly alleviate discomfort with a stream of cold air, which is used in conjunction with the laser.
How many sessions will I need?
On average most clients will require 5-8 treatments. Finer hair and dark skin clients may require 6-10 treatments. If you suffer from a hormone imbalance you may require additional touchup treatments.
How long should I wait between treatments?
The general guideline is 6 weeks for the face and neck and 8-10 weeks for the rest of the body.
Does laser work on blonde or white hair?
No, for fine blonde, red or grey hair laser will not be effective. We can remove this type of hair with electrolysis.
What areas can be treated?
Almost all areas of the body with the exception of the skin below the eyebrows as it is too close to the eyes. The most popular areas that are treated are the upper lip, chin, underarm areas, legs and bikini areas for women. For men, the chest, back, legs, and arms are commonly treated.
About our Lasers
Our Cynosure Elite™ Dual Platform
Our Cynosure Elite™ Dual Platform can effectively treat any skin type with great results.
This revolutionary technology combines two optimal laser wavelengths in one system: the 755-nm Alexandrite laser and the 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser. The 755-nm wavelength has high melanin absorption characteristics and proven long-term results for permanent hair reduction. The high-powered 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser is the safest wavelength for permanent hair reduction on darker skin types and tanned skin. The wavelengths on our laser hair removal can also be switched during a single procedure, allowing for the use of the most appropriate laser for any given hair or skin type.
Combined with the Cynosure SmartCool® Advanced Dermal Therapeutic Cooling System, the Cynosure Elite™ removes unwanted hair with unsurpassed efficiency and client comfort. The SmartCool® provides a continuous flow of chilled air before, during, and after your laser hair-removal treatment, while protecting the tissue and skin from thermal damage. Ultimately, this results in a much more comfortable hair-removal experience for you, our client.
After one laser treatment at Iga’s Laser & Electrolysis you will see and feel the difference.
Laser vs Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Intense pulsed light IPL is not a laser per se. It’s an intense light source. What makes IPL different from laser is that in basic terms, IPL is far less effective than Laser Hair Removal. The energy is produced by a lamp, a little like a light bulb, and produces a variety of light waves, meaning that it is more diffuse and less powerful.
A laser is an intensely concentrated beam of light. The energy is extremely focused offering more powerful, accurate effective results. Our Cynosure dual platform laser uses a single, precise wavelength that targets the melanin in the hair follicle exactly – no hit and miss. This exact wavelength provides a more effective treatment for hair removal than IPL. More effective individual laser hair removal treatments means fewer overall treatments are needed to achieve your desired results.

Electrolysis is the only permanent method of hair removal. Electrolysis uses a tiny probe the size of your hair, which is inserted into each follicle, and stops the cells from producing hairs.
- A safe and permanent method of hair removal that has been used for over 100 years.
- Approved by physician and health professionals.
- Effective for all hair colours and all hair types.
- Works on all types of skin and complexions.
At Iga’s Laser & Electrolysis we use the newest electrolysis equipment: Apilus technology, offering hair removal treatments that are more efficient, more comfortable and more rapid than any other epilation technique.
Apilus gives us the highest degree of precision and control, so that you get the results you want. You can finally say goodbye to unwanted hair, whether on the face or any other part of the body.
We can adjust and adapt our electrolysis unit to your level of sensitivity to current. Our machine sends pulses as little as one-thousandth of a second, faster than other machines in the market. This gives you incomparable comfort.
Thermolysis and Blend Methods
At Iga’s Laser & Electrolysis we use thermolysis and blend methods of electrolysis treatment.
Thermolysis: also known as short-wave method. Light frequency current travels down the needle and produces heat in the tissue which destroys the hair root. This is a very fast and therefore popular method. Thermolysis has less effect on distorted follicles or in individuals with severely curved hair follicles.
Blend: a combination of the thermolysis and electrolysis currents, offering the advantages of both. The blend combines the sureness of the galvanic electrolysis current with the swiftness of thermolysis current. The blend technique is slower then thermolysis, but is particularly useful for deep, coarse hairs and for curved hair follicles.
What to expect during an electrolysis treatment
When you arrive for your consultation, we will discuss the goal you want to achieve and recommend the type of treatment best suited for you.
Your treatment will be offered in a relaxing atmosphere of a private room. Once settled on a comfortable bed, your technician will begin the treatment length of your choice. Treatment length varies from 15 minutes to 1hours. We recommend a shorter appointment for your first visit.
Your comfort is the most important thing to us. We use topical lotions for sensitive areas.
Once your treatment is complete, we use soothing lotions to calm the skin.
What to expect after an electrolysis treatment
For approximately one hour after your treatment, you will have slight redness on the affected area. We recommend using aloe, witch hazel or Celazome moisturizing lotion.
It is important after an electrolysis session to keep the treatment area clean to avoid infection.
Is electrolysis painful?
Some patients may feel a certain degree of discomfort during the process of electrolysis, others do not. Many of our clients sleep through their one-hour electrolysis treatments.
We can adjust and adapt our electrolysis unit to your level of sensitivity to current. Our machine sends pulses as little as one-thousandth of a second, faster than other machines in the market.
For individuals more sensitive to the process of electrolysis, skin numbing creams can be used to reduce the amount of discomfort.
Is electrolysis safe?
Yes, electrolysis is approved by the medical profession. Our certified electrologists are fully qualified. At Iga’s Laser & Electrolysis, we take sterilization and sanitation procedures very seriously. We always use a new sterile disposable needle on each client and dispose of it appropriately after one use. Forceps are sterilized after each use in an autoclave to prevent any cross contamination. We use a new pair of disposable gloves for each client.
Is there a permanent solution to unwanted hair?
To date, electrolysis is the only permanent solution to removing unwanted hair.
How does electrolysis work?
A very fine probe is gently inserted into the hair follicle sending a mild electric current to the root of the hair follicle. Each hair is treated one by one to coagulate the hair root which will prevent the hair from regrowing.
What are the primary causes of unwanted hair?
Hair growth is often traced to hereditary factors, and sometimes stress and certain illnesses can stimulate growth. Also temporary methods of hair removal (especially waxing and tweezing), certain drugs and medications or just the normal hormonal changes at different stages of life can increase growth. Sometimes simply a sensitivity to normal levels of hormones can stimulate a hair growth.
What areas can hair be removed from?
Any area with the exception of very sensitive areas such as the eyelids. Don’t be embarrassed about, for example, hair around the nipples, on the abdomen or bikini line – these are very common areas for hair removal by electrolysis.
How many treatments are required?
A series of treatments is essential; length and number of treatments is dependant on a number of factors. Some factors include the structure of hair, what hair removal methods were used previously (plucking, waxing, etc.), your sensitivity of your skin, stress, hormones and medical conditions. Have a consistent treatment regime is very important to achieving the desired results.
How long does each treatment take?
Depending on the area to be treated and the individual needs of the client, each session can last anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours.
Laser Age Spot & Sun Spot Removal
Age spots and sun spots, also known as pigmented lesions, are blemishes on the skin associated with aging and exposure to the sun. These include: bluish, purplish, black or otherwise discoloured spots, freckles and sun-damaged skin areas.
What are age spots?
Age spots, or lentigines, refer to the brown spots we see on sun damaged skin. They tend to appear on the areas of the body which receive the most amount of sun, for example on the hands, face, shoulders, and arms.
How does laser age spot treatment work?
This treatment works by directing a beam of laser light to the target chromophore which is the dark pigment (melanin) within the age spot. This removes the abnormality without scarring or damage, resulting in improved skin texture and reduced signs of aging.
Are there any side effects to treatment?
Overall, treatments are gentle and mild, causing only slight discomfort with minimal side effects.
How many treatments are required?
The number of required treatments is dependent on such factors as lesion depth and size. Most people with dermal lesions see amazing results after only one or two sessions.
Laser Spider Vein Removal
Spider veins are bothersome at best, unattractive at worst. Fortunately, laser treatment is a quick and effective method of vein removal.
What are spider veins?
Spider veins (also called telangiectasia or venulectasias) are enlarged veins near the skin surface that appear purple, red, or blue. They are commonly found on the legs, though they can also appear on the face and other parts of the body. They can be a result of sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, the aging process or hereditary factors.
Laser spider vein treatments have become very popular because they are non-invasive and there is little to no recovery time.
How does laser vein removal treatment work?
During a laser vein removal treatment a concentrated beam of light energy from the laser is directed precisely at the small blood vessels. The light penetrates below the surface of the skin and the heat causes the blood within the tiny vessels to coagulate. The walls of the vein collapse, blood flow is stopped and over the next two to eight weeks the vein is absorbed into the body and disappears. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface where it should be.
How many treatments are required?
Typically only two or three treatments are required and the results can be seen in 3–4 weeks. Treatment time usually varies between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area.
Laser Facial treatment is the visible improvement of sun damaged skin through laser correction technology. In addition to correcting skin damage, the treatment stimulates collagen production to tighten the surrounding tissue, resulting in improved skin texture and reduced signs of aging.
Am I a candidate for Laser Facial Treatment?
If you are over thirty or an active person, chances are you spend more than your fair share of time in the sun. You are more likely to show signs of premature aging due to sun damage.
How does it work?
Facial skin treatment works by directing a beam of light to an irregularity in the skin, such as enlarged blood vessels or irregular chromophore. This removes the abnormality without scarring or damage, while stimulating collagen production to tighten the surrounding tissue, resulting in improved skin texture and reduced signs of aging.
How many treatments are required?
Typically several treatments are required for full-face treatment, and each treatment is approximately 60 minutes. The average treatment takes about 15 minutes for smaller areas, or spot treatments. Results become apparent after the first few treatments.
What can I expect after my treatment?
You’ll be able to return to normal activities immediately, though sunscreen should be applied as a post-treatment precaution.

Just for Men
A man may wish to remove hair for cosmetic reasons or for a better quality of life. Whether it is the taming of an unruly uni-brow or removal of unsightly hair in the ear or, on the back or chest — men deserve to look and feel their best!
Hairy backs or chests can cause men to keep their shirts on even during 90 degree weather at the beach or on the water. Necks that constantly get irritated from shaving with unsightly razor bumps, itchy patches, as well as ingrown hairs that cause embarrassing red oozing papules and pustules, can make men feel uncomfortable and self conscious. Over time, this condition can become chronic and infected, causing permanent scarring.
“I’m male and of Southern Italian decent with a heavy black beard and dark complexion. The thickness and coarseness of my beard combined with shaving created constant skin irritation, razor bumps, ingrown hairs and oily skin. After nearly 30 years of shaving and never ending discomfort, I decided to have my beard permanently removed.
Eight weeks after my 5th laser treatment with Iga and my beard is 90% gone. Shaving my face is a smooth experience. I no longer experience razor bumps, razor burn and my complexion has cleared. Friends tell me I look younger and I frequently receive complements on my skin. I have approximately 2 to 3 treatments left.
I can’t thank Iga enough for her care, expertise and professional demeanour. I have and will continue to recommend Iga’s Laser & Electrolysis especially to men tired of the discomfort experienced from shaving. My confidence has improved, I like the results I see in the mirror and I and my face feel great. Thank you Iga – You have changed my life.”
Hormones play a role in hair growth for men and also affect hair removal. Men often require more treatments on their back because their hair growth is driven by testosterone. A man in his 20’s has more testosterone and therefore it will take longer to successfully get rid of hair on his back than a man in his 40’s. One annual maintenance visit may also be necessary.
Most men think of hair removal in the spring; however, it is actually better to start treating unwanted hair during the cooler and colder months of fall and winter. While receiving treatment it is important to stay out of the sun. A tan can render the laser less effective. Treatment started in the fall will ensure you a smooth, confident, hair-free summer of fun.
